Amazon’s Firestick is an incredible hardware that allows you to make any TV stream ready or a smart TV to watch shows, series, and movies on demand. It comes with a remote that allows you to manage through the interface. However, at times, the remote may not work at all. In this scenario, you would change the batteries, but sometimes that also doesn’t work.
Fix Firestick remote not working even after changing batteries
Below are the suggested methods that can help you fix the problem where the Firestick has issues even after recently changing the battery.
- Check the Batteries Properly
- Check for Obstructions
- Check the TV input and Power source
- Restart the Firestick Device
- Pair the Remote Again
- Replace the Remote
Make sure to check if the remote starts working after every troubleshooting suggestion.
1] Check the Batteries Properly
Did you put in the correct set of batteries? Are the batteries charged? Are they correctly inserted (the positive and negative sides)? Most of the time, these are some of the little things that waste a lot of time. So make sure to check and fix the problem.
If you have been using rechargeable batteries for a long time, use a different pair of new batteries and check if it works.
2] Check for Obstructions
If the distance between the firestick is too great or there is something between the remote and the device, then the Bluetooth connection may fail. You have to ensure no construction or barrier between them can interfere with the signal sent from the remote.
3] Check the TV input & Power source
Ensure your TV is set to the correct input to receive the signal from the Firestick. You must also check if the HDMI port is powerful enough to turn on the Firestick. Lastly, check if the external power connection to Firestick is turned on.
4] Restart the Firestick Device
Restarting anything solves a lot of problems. If the issue is because of something that has the hardware built up because of prolonged usage, then a simple restart will remove it, and the Bluetooth should start working again.
Unplug Firestick from the TV or monitor to restart, then wait a few seconds. If an external power source powers the device, then make sure to remove that too. Once done, you need to replug the device into the TV and power up the device.
5] Pair the Remote Again
An easier way to troubleshoot the issue is to repair the remote again with Firtestck. At times, because of errors in the software, the device may forget the remote. Since navigating through Firstick without a remote is impossible, you can use a virtual remote on your phone to add the remote again.
You can also hold down the Home button for 10 seconds, and it should pair the remote please note that if it pairs, it still takes about 20 seconds to work.
6] Replace the Remote
If all else fails, your remote might be broken beyond repair, so your best bet is to buy a replacement or upgrade if you have been using an older version.
Remotes of most devices, including Smart TVs, can misbehave. I have personally experienced my MI TV remote not getting detected, and to fix it; I need to take out the batteries, leave it for a few minutes, and then replug to pair. So the same can happen with Firestick, and we have suggested how to fix the problem. We hope this helps.
